I Am Disappoint, Son/Daughter, and Other Details.

So, just a small bit about a few things. First off, this next Saturday’ll be the next D&D game at my house, starting at 1pm. For food, we could have pizza, but alternatively, we can carpool to someplace nearby for a break – maybe with a movie.

Second, in regards to people coming to D&D, Rene’s mass text really said it all, but I just wanna point out I’m not angry or anything, just a tad bit disappointed. There was a lot prepared, and a lot of preparation made, for last time, and not many came and stayed. Duly noted, I don’t expect all of you to arrive at exactly 1pm, or to stay over until 3am; however, it would be nice to have people stay without suddenly having to go in a heartbeat, especially when they arrived late, and to have most, if not everyone, at the table by 1:30pm. It would be equally irrational for me to assume that things don’t happen suddenly and without note, or for people to not have anything else to do. All I ask is that in either case, you contact me ASAP to let me know personally, so that I can plan with that in mind. If you’d have an easier time some other day of the week, a heads-up in that direction would also be cool; although my house is off-limits weekdays, we can always work something out at someone else’s place, or something. Finally, I know that a lot of you have issues with rides to and from home – I am willing, as always, to taxi people who need taxiing, and I’m sure that Rene can do so too for people in Condado.

Also, I applaud the people reading this message, cause it means that you’ve probably taken time to use Facebook to sign up for the site, so you can follow the awesomeness, and do at least look at my ramblings from time to time!

On another note, story-wise, this week is going to be interesting for some of you guys, in a cool way. I’m just saying, if your character has a back-story already, the cogs of fate might start moving soon for you…

A Brief Summary Until Now, Pt. 2

After a few more days of walking (and for those who were in the previous fight, a few more days of PTSD), a torrential rain began to come down. Xenil, with his tent, stayed comfortably dry, as did Monchichi, who warded off the rain with magic; Aus-Grah-Zoor braved the rain and cold like a man of strength and endurance, and Katniss took refuge in the canopy of a well-suited tree. The rest of the group, however, found the rain far too interesting to try to escape, and as a result, caught a cold and were indisposed for the time being. When the rain was gone, the group could see clearly, and noticed that the trail had been partially washed off; however, some magical tracking by Monchichi led the group to a nearby village called Altin, who greeted the adventuring party with silent streets and cold stares from the windows. Eventually, the group ran into a makeshift town militia, which tried to ward off the group, but which eventually was convinced to stand down. The leader of the town, the Innkeeper April, told the group about raids that were being done recently, and how the militia was simply waiting for them. In exchange for supplies, the Innkeeper asked them to assault their base of operations with two of her villagers. Agreeing to negotiated terms, Falcon Light accepted the task, and went to their base.
Eventually the group stumbled upon a cave, with a few guards and a horseman talking outside. It was immediately apparent that they were dealing with either true mercenaries, or soldiers, from the same group as the one from the earlier failed ambush. Using stealth, the group dealt the first blow, with Monchichi firing a magical orb that killed a few of them, and crippled the horseman and his steed. The horseman, however, seeing the Paladin first in his reflective plate mail, charged at him, throwing his lance, and pinning the paladin by the shoulder, through his shield and hand, to a tree. The horseman then jumped off the horse, who then kicked Aus-Grah-Zoor, rendering him unconscious. Xenil then delivered a counter-strike, along with the others, which ended the battle swiftly; the group then rescued Aus, and together entered the cave.
After a brief survey of the cave entrance, Katniss attempted to open the door, but upon doing so, triggered a spikes-from-the-floor trap – thankfully, she managed to dodge them in the nick of time. Xenil then quickly identified that they were pressure-sensitive, by only putting the tip of his foot on the ground, and marking the point where the spikes came out. After jumping one-by-one over the trap and into the room, they managed to avoid detection by some of the working soldiers. Setting themselves up strategically, they managed quick work of them, save for one soldier who was interrogated for a while before he bit off his own tongue and swallowed it, after which he was sent to his god by Aus-Grah-Zoor, followed by Final Rights courtesy of Xenil’s Arcane Warrior Sect’s teachings.
Investigating the cave further revealed that there was a secret passage which opened a brightly-illuminated passageway. Soon after entering, rumbling rocks and noise suggested that something big had occurred, and after exiting the hallway, that idea was confirmed by the visible collapse, which had killed a mage. After another fight, Monchichi acquired a wand that had been imbued with the magical power of its previous owner, which provided it with a modest power-boost.

And so, the warriors braced themselves to delve further into the cave, unbeknownst to them that a powerful foe lurks nearby…

A Brief Summary Until Now, Pt.1
Detective work, journeying, fighting, and... Granny Slaying?

Excuse my not summarizing until now – I’ll get started.

After awakening and hearing the extent of their wounds, The Mammoth conjured some bright-tasting potions that, along with an almost unhealthy dose of tough love, got Aus-Grah-Zoor and Xenil back on their feet – Katniss, Monchichi, and Renzo passed out from exhaustion and more critical wounds. Once up, the pair was introduced to three other members of the group: Jenkins, Arya, and Twitch. Twitch is a Thri-Kreen Monk that was raised by The Mammoth alongside Xenil, and as such, was already well-acquainted with him. Arya is an Elf Sorcerer, who was caught in the middle of the fighting, and was seeking revenge. Jenkins, however, simply saw a profitable endeavor with the group and used Arya’s excuse to join the party.
Now on their feet, the group headed out to the area of the battle, to investigate the region and see if they could find evidence of what happened, and of where the group went. There, Aus briefly found himself in a bit of a scuffle with the Mage’s Guild, but was quickly pulled aside by Xenil and company to go talk to the High Commandant, who was there.
High Commandant Laracal Nathon is a well-known figure to those in Justalyne, as the highest-ranking man in the military, and head of the Military Council, making him the second most powerful man in the nation. Upon seeing the group, he recognized them as The Mammoth’s men, and told them to go to the capitol, talk to the Council as witnesses, and then disband. Upon returning to The Mammoth, he told them that HE was going to go to the capitol, and to instead gather the last things the party needed, and to follow “the burnt path.”
Not quite getting what he meant, the group headed out to pick up supplies, and to then meet up at the battle site. Aus-Grah-Zoor, trying to get a message across to the group while running his errands, created a ruckus in the middle of the street, prompting an elderly woman to slap him. As retribution to what he perceived as an unprovoked assault, he smote her where she stood with his flail, and was arrested for the crime of First-Degree Granny-Slaying. Learning about the incident, The Mammoth, who was beginning to pack up, gave the group a note to give to the police. Upon giving the police the note, they released Aus on the condition that he make amends to atone for his crime with her only surviving heir, her grandson.
When he arrived to the house, he saw the young boy of 16 getting ready to kill himself, seeing as how he had already lost his parents, and now has lost all he had left; what’s more, from his house, he saw the granny-slaying take place. Aus, trying to convince the lad to join Falcon Light, to have a future, as a way to make up for what he did, only managed to convince the boy to think about hit; however, since Aus wanted to be sure, he attempted to grab the boy, then chased after him, seized him, and knocked him out. He then took the boy to The Mammoth, who heard the full story and the situation, and who then proceeded to take the boy in, but not before reprimanding The Paladin with a blow to the head, leaving a temporary scar saying “Granny-Slaying Kidnapper” on his forehead. And with that, The Mammoth left, and Falcon Light was left to find this path.
Thankfully, due to a stroke of pure genius from Jenkins, and an eagle eye on the part of Twitch, a scorched line was found running along the ground, and it was deduced that this was made by the blade that The Mammoth had sealed, which seemed to magically burn whatever touched it. It was deduced that this blade was magically suspended, but badly done, so as to necessitate dragging it across the ground, rather than perfectly suspending it in mid-air; therefore, the group must have lacked a proper mage.
And so the Band of Eight followed the line, with Monchichi, Katniss, Arya, and Renzo getting distracted and falling behind. After 3 days of travel, the group was ambushed by what at first seemed to be a band of bandits. Fighting valiantly, Xenil, Aus, and Twitch quickly noticed that the “bandits” were actually well-trained warriors, thus probably mercenaries, but due to their ragged condition, they had been lost for a while, and took to banditry to sustain themselves. The skirmishers of the group fell one-by-one, leaving the well-armored boss alone to fight, and in the ensuing fight, Twitch used his telekinetic powers to drive the man insane, resulting in, amongst other things, the man stabbing himself in the gut with the blunt end of the halberd, then running it straight into Aus-Grah Zoor, stabbing him through the gut as well with the head of the weapon. The crazed fighter then began to pummel erratically the Dragonborn, going so far as to snap off his arm and stab the Paladin in the clavicle with the bone shards, and biting him in the snout until his jaw broke. He then threw both of them to the ground, pinning Aus, and then flailed on his body until he seized and died. An inch away from death, Xenil patched up Aus-Grah-Zoor, and allowed the Paladin to finish healing himself afterwards. Mentally disturbed by what happened, Aus-Grah-Zoor took the halberd and buried the man, taking with him the halberd, a picture locket of the man with his wife and daughter in an unknown land, and the haunting memory of an individual truly driven insane biting, bashing, and stabbing-with-bone him to the brink of death.
And it was with that that our heroes continued their journey, following the path ahead.

Another day, another... SQUIRREL!
Why my late-at-night attention span needs a bit of a tweek

Picture unrelated 2
So, today, I’ve tried putting in some more hours in fleshing out the site, but sadly, I wasn’t even fully done with updating Rene’s character that I found myself distracted with looking up D&D resources to try to simplify some stuff, such as people looking up powers and stuff. It was at this moment at around 2am (of course) that I suddenly stumbled onto an ideal site called Mad Brew Labs that had links to everything I ever needed; minutes later, and I found myself neck-deep in awesome new stuff to try out.
First, I tried out the different custom character sheets people have made for their own campaigns, and put online for others to use. Next, to try to solve the powers-issue, I found a collection of D&D character and race power cards. Finally, to solve my own problems with class-making, I found a character-creator program complete with a power-card creator. This last one took up my sweet time till around 6:45am, with the end result being a rough draft of a formal presentation for the Arcane Warrior class! Stupid printer ran out of colored ink this time, as opposed to simply running out of black, so its black and white and stuff, but its still awesome!
So, back to the site. Sadly, the site was on maintenance starting from 6am (I wrote this rant in a notepad doc to kill time while the site came back), so there’s a good chunk of usable time that I think I’m going to use to flesh out the Shieldwarden a bit more (although, no one indulged me in choosing the class, so it only serves to flesh out any NPC which I may decide will pertain to said class). Once the site comes back online, and I publish this post, I’ll get to work on finishing Rene’s character stats, and then going on to putting up Paqui’s and Edu’s as a priority, seeing as how they are the one’s who need this the most…
Anyways, back to work!

EDIT: Done with Eduardo’s and Francisco’s character’s info. Only caveat is, you guys (once you accept the invites, and I give you control of your characters) need to type up your backstories in the appropriate section (hint: click “edit” on your character). I’ve also put up notes in the notes section of the character sheets (lower-left corner), read them for info.

A Falcon Light Emerges
The Journey Begins

The city of Justalyne: the former capital of the Justalyne Empire, it lies to the south of the continent. There is almost nothing in this city that cannot be found if you look hard enough. On this day, the heroes of this campaign, unaware of the machinations of fate, have arrived for their own varying reasons. Katniss, the Shifter Druid, camping outside the city limits, caught a rabbit at 4 in the morning, and then after collecting materials, manages to craft a bow which, upon being strung, spontaneously combusts, almost setting fire to herself and her rabbit pelt, and paying an unfortunate homage to her early-morning bowyer skills. Meanwhile, as the morning comes, Aus-Gra-Zoor awakes, and makes his way to the Temple of Bahamut; after talking to the guard, and convincing him of his honor and faith, the guard gives him a copy of the key in awe of Zoor’s awesome Paladin might, and allows him entry. Inside, Zoor prays to Bahamut for guidance, and in doing so falls asleep at His feet – Bahamut then graces his dreams, and tells him that today, he will meet others with whom he will begin a long and epic journey. As he wakes and finds himself surrounded by priests and fellow followers, in a nearby inn, a humble Eldarin Bard by the name of (Francisco’s PC) sings for a few hours to earn money, while a Deva Wizard by the name of Monchichi slowly eats her morning meal, looking up only to see who enters and leaves the inn, to see who poses a threat and who should just be ignored.

As the day progresses, the four individuals begin their day by wandering around the city, stubbornly refusing to ask directions at first (and thus getting lost), but then gather the courage to ask where the shops are, so that they may continue to buy their own supplies and items. As the day progresses, Zoor and the Bard bump into each other while looking for materials, and immediately hit it off, embarking on a trip to go eat food and get supplies at the Bazaar. As the Druid rips off a Shaman for her equipment, Zoor’s generosity makes him a welcome member of the city, even with his being “nothing but Scaly Scum.” As the night comes, and the four converge in The Knight’s Fight Inn and spend some quality time enjoying the Bard’s music and the Paladin’s generosity, a mysterious man enters and tips the Innkeeper as he asks for some food. This man, upon being asked by the Dragonborn to join them, reveals himself to be Xenil Orion, a local of sorts, and partakes of their company, agreeing to show them the next day around town, and to show them The Grand March, a parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Just Revolution.

As he tells them of the parade, of the war-winning weapons exhibited, a wave of cries breaks through the crowd as people in the crowd begin to brandish weapons and scream in a language unknown to those present. The men and women then start a riot, with the Party of Five diving into the fray to protect the people and stop the madness. As police pour in, and the fight spills over to City Hall Road, ruckus is heard from City Hall, followed by an explosion which levels the building and causes damage to some of the buildings around it. From the ash cloud six silhouettes emerged, and charged towards the group of warriors, ruthlessly and effortlessly tossing them around and defeating them with powerful weapons. Suddenly, one of them emerges and draws an ominous-looking blade. As the players lose consciousness, an enormous man steps into the fray, and wielding awesome magics, attacks the evil blade and the group of bandits, resulting in their casual retreat, which is seemingly covered by the non-stop seas of fighting.

As the players wake up, they find themselves bedridden in the Inn, and see The Mammoth arguing with High Commandant Laracal Nathon, the second most powerful man in the country, and the highest ranking military general. After he storms off, The Mammoth turns to the players and tells them of their wounds: of Katniss’s boiled, liquified organs, of Aus-Gra-Zoor’s disintegrated skeleton, of Monchichi’s perfectly pierced vital organs, and of the Bard’s numberous wounds. Here walks in Xenil, bandaged and in crutches, and explains that they have to get up to see what happened. Once the group agreed to act, they were forcibly and aggressively healed, and then inducted as the newest members of the clan-turned-guild, Falcon Light. And so our heroes begin their world-changing journey into the unknown, to face a danger unlike any other, and to defeat an old evil that has reared its head into the world once more.

Welcome to the Party!

Welcome one, welcome all! With this post I open up at last this digital chronicle of the Justalyne Campaign!

First off, to explain. This whole site is dedicated to the various aspects of the campaign. This section in particular, the Adventure Log, is a blog meant to summarize the day-to-day happenings of the campaign session as it happens. This way, not only can people who miss sessions can stay up-to-date, but people can also look back and remember the past events of the game.

Now then, the actual site. The Wiki for the campaign offers a plethora of information on the various aspects of the world, and of the campaign itself. Forgot how the world looks? There’s a page for that Forgot who’s in the campaign? There’s a page for that too. In addition, in the Characters section, you can see the actual important characters of the world, including your own, which you have met so far. The Items section holds the stats of particular items of note, the Forums section is a place where you guys can post stuff and talk, and Maps has images of the important maps, and where we are in the world at a given moment.

This is all still a work in progress. I’m still in the process of creating and filling out Wiki pages, and haven’t yet put up 100% of the characters online. However, this should all be done soon, and if you guys see a Wiki section that seems broken, just tell me and I’ll fix it/put it in.

So, without further ado, welcome to the party, and let the journey begin!
